Sitia area counts many beaches. Some of them with crystal clear waters, others with fine sand, others more picturesque, others more deserted and others more cosmopolitan.
Sitia’s beaches each year are being awarded with the European Union Blue Flag.
SITIA BEACH: It is the greatest gift that nature has given to the geographical area of Sitia. Situated only 200 meters from the city center the visitors can enjoy breakfast, brunch, meal, dinner, coffee and drink at the high quality local restaurants and all day cafeterias. Wherever you are headed you will find yourself in a picturesque bay, a golden sandy beach, a quiet cove, an organized, noisy and vibrant cosmic beach or an isolated golden beach where you can enjoy swimming, sports or playing with crystal clear sea water.
CHIONA BEACH :Chiona beach is overgrown with olive groves and is characterized of particular natural beauty.
It is a large, beautiful, non-organized beach, with sand, shallow waters ideal for young children, blue, crystal clear waters and plenty of shade trees.
KOUREMENOS BEACH: The beach of Kouremenos has a more than 1.5 km longitude, with light brown sand, shallow blue waters and many tamarisk trees. It is organized in some places with umbrellas. Kouremenos beach is the ideal place for all levels of windsurfers with surf stations. The ultimate hideaway for couples and families.
VAI BEACH:The unique paradise palm tree is sprouted in a large valley and watered by waters that flow through it. At the exit of the palm forest to the sea an exotic sandy beach with light sand and few pebbles on one side uncovers.
Strolling along the beach between the palm trees creates unique memories for a lifetime.
ERIMOUPOLI – ITANOS REGION:A crystal clear and impressive beach on the northeastern corner of Crete is waiting for you to discover it. Your mask, umbrella, fruits and water are the key ‘equipment’ for the visitor. Fantastic waters next to the wild beauty of the rocky Cretan landscape.
KATO ZAKROS: The beautiful beach of the small traditional settlement of Kato Zakros is formed on the edge of a large bay with pebbles and beautiful calm waters, which on the side becomes rocky. A visit to the archaeological site of the palace of Kato Zakros (Minoan period) is the starting point for relaxing in traditional cafes and Cretan tavernas while enjoying the endless blue.
